More and more I am starting to realize that life is not about money and having all the possessions in which money can buy. Instead it is about love and those people in life who make living a true joy, especially those who are willing to help and support you at no cost. These people are more than friends, in fact they are family. Family is there regardless of your downfalls or if you are acting unjustly for the moment in time. Family is a bond sealed with love. Today I am going to not only call each of these individuals and say thank you, I am going to go a step further and write each and every one of them a thank you card expressing how much they mean to me. My success does not go without the support of my family, so in essence my successes are their successes.

The art of writing thank yous has suffered over the past few years. It used to be that when a child was given a present by one of the relatives his or her parent would insist that the child sit down and write a thank you note right away. However, parents got busier when they both started having careers, and children began spending more time at various activities or looking at a television or computer screen. It became less and less likely that you’d receive a note of thanks if you gave a young person a present.
As adults, we’ve often gotten out of the habit of writing thank you messages also. But it’s always nice and very much appreciated to send one. For this purpose you can just keep a few blank thank you cards in your file drawer so you can pull one out, add a few words, and send it out after someone has been especially nice to you or given you a gift.
In this age of emails, it can’t categorically be said that an email is wrong as a thank you. In informal situations where you know the person well, it is certainly a possibility. However, it can’t be said enough that nothing beats the impact you’ll have when someone who’s given you a gift of any sort opens a handwritten message of thanks from you.
